About 2.2 blocks per cu ft for a 100 mm (4 inch) wall using standard 600×200×100 mm blocks with thin mortar joints, or about 1.6 per cu ft at 150 mm (6 inch). The estimator uses these counts, so switching from wire-cut brick (13.5/cuft) to AAC re-cuts the unit count on the same wall volume.

Per cuft of wall, AAC block units typically cost more than clay bricks (wire-cut brick runs ₹7,000–9,000 per 1,000 in Maharashtra), but AAC can still win the total wall line: thin-bed adhesive replaces most of the mortar, laying is faster, and the lighter wall trims load on the frame. Ask for the comparison per sqft of finished wall, not per block.

Three practical reasons: an AAC wall goes up faster per mason-day, the blocks are dimensionally square so plaster thickness drops, and the lighter wall reduces seismic load on the frame. AAC also insulates better than clay, which keeps top-floor rooms cooler in Pune summers.

Yes - a wastage slider (default 7%) multiplies cement, steel and block counts. AAC snaps in transit more than clay brick, so on far sites run the slider to 8-10% for blocks specifically.
